Native to Cuba, this plant is typically bright green and features tiny, oval leaves that grow close together, creating a fine, lush carpet when planted densely. HC ‘Cuba’ is one of the most popular plants used in Dutch aquascaping and nature aquascapes, owing to its ability to create a vibrant, soft ground cover that contrasts beautifully with taller plants in the aquarium. The growth rate of Hemianthus callitrichoides ‘Cuba’ is moderate to fast under optimal conditions, especially when provided with medium to high light. However, it requires constant trimming to maintain its compact, low-profile growth. Without regular maintenance, the plant may become sparse and lose its carpet-like appearance.
